Northern Regional Darts Final – Season 3

Northern Regional Darts Final Season 3
24th August 2013

Players gathered at Riley’s, Wigan for the Season 3 Regional Final which got underway with the presentation of trophies and certificates to individual pub winners.

Many of the players had one eye on the TV screens as Wigan prepared to take on Hull in the Challenge Cup Final, they were all hoping to complete a successful afternoon on the board and also enjoy the local team picking up another trophy at Wembley!

The league stages were keenly fought with a 180 in the first leg of the first match by Stu Jones, Riley’s, Wigan setting the tone for what would be an impressive session of darts.

Stu would go on to top the league winning all six of his matches in some style, 3-0 against Craig Orr (Cricketers Arms, Sandbach), 3-1 against Mike Wilson (Riley’s), 3-1 against Josh Walton (Cricketers Arms), 3-0 against Anton Hastings (Riley’s), 3-2 against Tom Neil (Pheasant, Batley) and finally 3-1 against Mark Woodberry (Cricketers Arms).

Anton finished second in the league, only losing his game against Mike. Tom was in third place with four wins only suffering defeat against the top two. Fourth place was decided on legs difference with Josh, Mike and Mark all level on points, Mike was the lucky one to claim the last semi-final place having the best legs difference.

In the first semi-final there was something of a shock with Mike battling hard to secure a 3-2 win over the previously undefeated Stu. Anton and Tom fought out a tough battle in the second semi with Anton eventually winning 3-1.

In the final after an even battle early on Anton reeled off three legs on the trot to run out a 4-1 victor.

Congratulations to the new Regional champ, Anton, and good luck to all the qualifiers at the National Final in Sheffield on 24th November.
